Swiss PGDay 2021
Thursday, July 1, and Friday, July 2, 2021
OST University of Applied Sciences, Rapperswil (Switzerland)
Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, we have
decided to skip PGDay again in 2021 and move to 2022. Stay healthy!
Save the Date: Thursday, 30 June and Friday, 1 July 2022
To pass the time until then, check out the
SwissPUG agenda or sign up for the
mailing list - we always host exciting online
events for you to participate.
This day is all about PostgreSQL - the world's most advanced open source database.
Take the opportunity to meet with other people interested in PostgreSQL in Switzerland.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the
Swiss PostgreSQL Users Group (SwissPUG) and to address
a popular demand we extend the conference by half a day and will invite all participants to join a
Social Event on Thursday evening to support networking and personal exchange. The conference itself
starts on Thursday afternoon featuring 1.5 days with two tracks of presentations, one in English and
one in German language. Further, we will offer a poster session where participants can present their
projects, ideas and use cases to each other. The event is suitable for everybody, from first-time
users to experts and from clerks to decision-makers.
Do you have questions or suggestions? Please let us know by e-mail:
info@pgday.ch.
We are looking forward to this event!

Sponsors
The Swiss PGDay offers a great chance to reach PostgreSQL professionals and community members
in Switzerland and Central Europe.
Sponsors support the event with a payment of CHF 750.00 and are mentioned with their
company logos (linking to the company website) on the entry page of the event and on the schedule
posters / handouts. Sponsors may be present at the event with PR material on the sponsor's table
and a limited amount of banners, if they wish. One representative of the company is granted a free
ticket incl. coverage of expenses at the social event. Sponsoring the event does not guarantee
acceptance of talk proposals.
The selection of sponsors is based on a first-come, first-served policy. In order to keep the
non-profit character of the event, we only can allow for a maximum of 10 sponsors. If you are
interested in sponsoring the conference, please send an email to
info@pgday.ch
Location
The OST (Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, Campus Rapperswil) is located directly at
the upper Zurich lakeshore with a view on the Alpine foothills
(
Map).
How to get there
The premises of the OST are right beside the train station of Rapperswil (southern exit,
look for the signs). We recommend you therefore to use public transportation. It is possible,
however, to reach the University
by car.
- By train:
The ride from Zurich Main Station to Rapperswil takes about 30 minutes by train (S5/S15).
- By car:
The nearest public parking place is about 10 minutes walking from the OST - See also
the local parking directing system. The fees are very high. Unfortunately, we can't offer
fees reduction for the participants of the conference. On the campus, there are only very
few parking places for a maximum of 2 hours and very expensive as well. The best parking
possibility is at the Children Zoo in Rapperswil, see
PDF ("Südquartier, Lido": number 7 on the map).
Registration
The registration is in the cafeteria in building Nr. 1. There is also the place where we
will spend the breaks.
Ease of access
The campus is accessible for wheelchairs.
Code of Conduct
Please review our
Code of Conduct (on SwissPUG website)
Social Event
On the evening of the first conference day (Thursday) we will host a social event for all participants
of the Swiss PGDay. The event will take place in a nice location within walking distance of the OST.
So, make sure to stick around after the end of the talks for a great opportunity to network and mingle
with the PostgreSQL community. The flying dinner and water will be provided by Swiss PGDay, but you are
expected to pay your own drinks. To ease logistics, please wear your badges. We will post more details
later on.
Job board
Looking for people or a new job? Near the registration desk, you'll find a whiteboard open to sponsors,
companies and conference attendees to post potential job offers, resumes, company profiles and the like.
If you float around this during the breaks you can likely get in contact with each other.
We ask our sponsors to show some presence there.
Financial disclosure
Expenses of the Swiss PGDay are covered with the income from our sponsors and the registration fees.
We aim at keeping costs for both parties as low as possible and include special rates for students
to enable as many interested people as possible to attend. Our budget is calculated targeting a zero
result. Operational losses and profits that result from differences from the budget are managed by the
Swiss PostgreSQL Users Group. Profits are
reinvested in the next year's edition of the Swiss PGDay.
Community Event
Responsible for the Swiss PGDay is the
Swiss PostgreSQL Users Group (SwissPUG). The event does comply
with the PostgreSQL
Community Conference Recognition guidelines and the use of the
trademark "PGDay" is granted by
PostgreSQL Europe.
